In Upper Austria, about 500 m from the border to Lower Bavaria, there is located the hamlet Hutstein, where all Hutsteiner came from. See I.3 One single origin | HUTSTEIN Origins.
Two other major family lines need to be mentioned here, both located in Kollerschlag:
- the line of Simon Hutsteiner in Kollerschlag and Mistlberg
- and Tobias Hutsteiner family line in Kollerschlag, which ended after 2 generations already.
Tobias and Simon likely had been brothers and living in Kollerschlag, the place where most Hutsteiner still live nowadays, about 6 km away from hamlet Hutstein. It also seems that they are close related to the families of Coloman and Martin Hutsteiner in Bavaria, due to the fact, that some share the best man for their marriages.
