Burden of war

Paul Grubauer, who succeeded on the Themel Hutsteiner farm from 1631 wrote a letter to his lord in 1652 asking for relief of interest payment. He had to pay interests for a 200 Gulden loan from the parish of Pfarrkirchen i.M., which he could not afford anymore in 1652 due to former burdens of war burden. Therefore he asked for relief him and that he may stay on his farm, the Themel Hutsteiner farm.

With 200 Gulden loan in 1612, at a time when the Mühlviertel was attacked by the Passauer Kriegsvolk, it was possible to buy or erect a new farm. Perhaps the Themel Hutsteiner farm was destroyed by the mercenaries of Passau.

The loan was not repaid before 1678. In 1678 Paul Grubauer still paid interest rates.
